Item Banks in TAG
Get an overview of the item banks available in TAG, including OER (Eureka, Carnegie, Amplify, O'Dell, and PhD items) alongside TEA-released, Bluebonnet Learning, and TEKS Resource System content, and see how to access them. Schools can also purchase TEKSready and DMAC Pre/Post Items separately.
Helpful Tips
- TAG (TEKS Assessment Generator) is used to create and manage local assessments using available item banks or your own content.
- Use the Source filter in the Test Library to see which item banks are available with your school’s subscription.
Types of Tests
- User Tests – Tests you create or copies you make from another source. User Tests can be reordered, edited, or deleted.

Shared Tests – Tests another DMAC user has shared with you. Shared Tests cannot be edited or deleted, but you can:
- Preview or print the test
- Print the test key
- Export the test to TEKScore
- Make a copy to create your own editable version
Available Content
Depending on your school’s subscription, TAG may include:
- TEA – Released content, including STAAR assessments. Export a test as-is or make a copy to customize it.

OER – Open Education Resources available to schools.
- Bluebonnet Learning assessments are organized by course, module, and topic.
- Select View Source to see the original material.
- Some items may be adjusted to support online testing.
- TEKS-RS – Available to schools with a TEKS Resource System subscription.
- RCH – Assessments available to schools participating in the Rural Schools Cohort.
- Additional Item Banks – DMAC Pre- & Post-test Items and TEKSready are available for purchase separately. Access to these item banks may be limited to designated users.

The TAG application in DMAC stands for TEKS Assessment Generator.
This software includes various item banks, allowing users to create high-quality local assessments from bundled tests or by using individual items to customize them to specific blueprints.
You can see which item banks are included in your school’s subscription by checking the test library and the source filter on the left.
User tests are unique to each login in DMAC.
These are assessments you have created on your own.
Or if you copy a test from something like TEA, it becomes a user test.
You can then reorder, delete, or modify items as needed.
With shared tests, someone else has granted you access to view the test in TAG.
You cannot delete or modify shared tests, but you can export them to TEKScore, preview them, print them, print the test keys, or make a copy.
The TEA section includes released content such as STAAR assessments.
Export them directly or make a copy and make changes.
The OER section includes Open Education Resources available to schools.
Bluebonnet Learning assessments are available in TAG, organized by courses, modules, and topics.

In some cases, adjustments are made to items to facilitate online tests.
If your school purchases TEKS-RS, you will also see that content in TAG.
Likewise, schools in the Rural Schools Cohort can access the assessments under the RCH category.
There are two item banks that schools can purchase outside the TAG subscription.
This includes DMAC Pre and Post-test Items and TEKSReady.
Both of these item banks are also available in TAG, but access to this content is generally much more limited.
The important thing to remember is that the TAG software is used to manage or create assessments.
