Hot Spot Item

From the Highlight and Drawing section, the Hot Spot item type allows students to select one or more areas of a graphic.
Click the box or green plus icon.
There are three sections.
The Question, Background Image, and, once it's uploaded, there is a section to define the areas students can click.
On the top right, select English or Spanish.
Click here to add a protractor or a ruler to the item.
Use the editing tools provided to format.
Make sure to use this first icon to paste in plain text when copying from another source.
For demo purposes, we are starting with everything already entered in.
Once an image has been uploaded, move to the section for Define Areas.
Two things need to happen here.
First, highlight the possible areas on the graphic that students could possibly select.
Next, identify the correct answers.
Draw rectangles or circles over all desired 'clickable areas' of the image.
You can draw up to twelve hot spots.
Click an existing area and duplicate, delete or mark it as correct.
Mark several as correct at once by selecting the area under Batch and then clicking on the correct answers.
Those marked as correct appear in green.
All other clickable spots are blue.
Students do not see the blue or green squares on a test.
Notice on the top, the total number of correct spots show out of the total possible choices.
Click Save on the top when finished.
A pop-up appears allowing you to select standards.
Select the Content Area, adopted year and select the primary course and Student Expectation.
You also have the option to dual code.
Click save.
From this screen, use the icons to make edits to the question, or details on the right.
Use this icon to test how the item reads for text-to-speech.
To add 'Related content', click the Add icon.
Related content, such as reading passages, Maps, and Charts, can be attached to more than one assessment item.
This makes tests easier to organize.
You can also assign keywords to items making them easier to search for in the future.
Click the add icon and put each new keyword or phrase on a new line.
Click save to return to the previous screen.
