Content and Language Supports

Content and Language Supports (CLS) are assigned to students individually in DMAC through testing supports in Student Portfolio. They offer students more information about selected text or graphics in a test question.
Students with assigned supports will be able to see the boxes outlining CLS added to either images or text during online testing.
When someone adds Content and Language Supports in TAG, they will be visible on a test only if the student was assigned that support. It is important to note that not everyone will see the boxes around the information entered.
When editing a test item, use the formatting bar and locate the CLS icon.
First, highlight the text or graphic, then click Content and Language Supports.
The highlighted text or image shows up as the selected content in the pop-up,
Use the Alternative Content section to include additional information, either text or as an image, to help students understand the context of the question. Click Apply.
To modify areas with CLS already applied to an item, click the box, then click the icon on the formatting bar again. Make changes to the selected or alternative content, then click Apply or the Remove button to remove the Content and Language Support.
From the Item Library, items that have content and language supports entered have a green CLS icon.
You can also filter the list for only items with content and language supports by clicking the Advanced Search toggle from off to on. Select Yes under the CLS option and then Apply.
To assign Content and Language Supports to a student, open Student Portfolio. Filter for a list of students, then assign it individually by clicking the supports icon. Make sure to click save after checking any new subjects that require support.
From the Student Search, assign supports to more than one student at at time by selecting students and then clicking on the Batch icon.
Under Select Operation, select Add Supports.
Scroll down and check the desired subjects under Content and Language.
Click Execute.
During an online test, students with CLS assigned as a support, see the boxes around text or graphics if Content and Language Supports were entered. Their cursor will change when they hover over those boxes, and they will need to click them to see the additional context.
