Advanced Search/Filters

Narrow the Test Items page with Advanced Search and column filters, filtering by Keyword, SE, Source, and more. Click yellow Keyword boxes or Passage titles from Grid view or the On button to start.

Helpful Tips

  • From the Test Items screen, use Advanced Search to quickly narrow the list of available items.
  • Standard filters include Language, Content Area, Course, TEKS Year, Source, and SE number.
  • Select a keyword or passage title from the item list to automatically apply it as an Advanced Search filter.

Advanced Search Filters

Select Advanced Search to filter items by:

  • Item Usage or year
  • TEKS-RS Unit
  • Text to Speech or Content and Language Supports (CLS)
  • Multi-part items or specific item types
  • Dual-coded items
  • Depth of Knowledge (DOK)
  • Passage genre, format, or paired passage
  • Items associated with related content, such as passages, graphics, or maps
  • Specific question text or keywords

Managing Filters

  • Select Apply after choosing Advanced Search options.
  • Active filters appear under the Advanced Search heading and update the available item totals.
  • Select the red X to remove individual filters.
  • Turn Advanced Search Off to clear the Advanced Search filters.
  • If needed, select Search again to reset the standard filters.

From the Test Item screen, when you are adding items to an assessment, use the Advanced Search to quickly narrow down the list of available items.
When searching for items, the filters on the left narrow them by Language, Content Area, Course, TEKS year, Source, or SE number.
You can see in this example that it returns thousands of items.
A quick way to filter is to click a keyword box or passage title on the list.
This starts in Advanced Search, where you'll notice the button changes from “Off” to “On,” and keywords are filtered under the title.
It also changes the totals per Source on the left.
Click the X to remove the filter.
In some cases, you may want to click the Search box on the left again to reset.
Click the “On" button next to Advanced Search to see the available filters.
Here you can filter by Item Usage, Year, TEKS-RS unit, if the item was approved for text-to-speech, or includes Content and Language Supports.
You can show only multi-part items or select individual item types.
Search for dual-coded items or by Depth of Knowledge level.
There are also options to search by passage genre, format, whether it's a paired passage, or by items attached to related content, such as passages or graphics like maps.
Lastly, you can type out parts of questions or keywords if you're looking for something specific.
Make sure to click the apply button at the top if you make any selections.
Active filters will appear under the Advanced Search title.
Click the red X to remove them individually, or click the off button to clear them.
