STAAR Interim Assessments

TEA provides districts with interim assessments for grades 3-8 Math and Reading. Students begin with Part 1. After completion, students are routed to a corresponding Part 2 based on their Part 1 performance. Probability of a student achieving Approaches or Meets in STAAR tests is then estimated based on student performance on both sections in an interim test.

A Data File for all students will be available two weeks after the test window closes. It is the responsibility of the district to upload their STAAR Interim Data File to DMAC. For assistance, please contact the DMAC Help Desk (866.988.6777).

STAAR Interim Data can be accessed in DMAC. To access this data:  State Assessment > STAAR > Student Reports > Campus/Teacher/Class/Student tab > Interim Tab > Select Options:

Two reports are available to generate:

  • Student Interim Performance
  • Student Interim Reporting Category Performance

Fields:

  • Student Name
  • Test Accommodations: Y/Text-to-Speech Reading or Math or N/None
  • Probability: probability of achieving Approaches/Meets grade level represented in percent.
  • Total Questions: number of questions in Part 1 + Part 2
  • Total Correct: number correct from Part 1 + Part 2
  • Total % Correct: percent of items correct from Part 1 + Part 2

STAAR Student Interim Performance

Part 1 :

  • Questions: number of questions in Part 1
  • Correct: number correct from Part 1
  • % Correct: percent of items correct from Part 1

Part 2:

  • Version: items assessed in Part 2 (below grade, easy, medium, hard)
  • Questions: number of questions in Part 2
  • Correct: number correct from Part 2
  • % Correct: percent of items correct from Part 2

STAAR Student Interim Reporting Category Performance

Fields

  • Student Name
  • Test Group Name (optional): group name assigned by test administrator
  • Off Grade: indicates student was administered items from below or above grade level
  • Reporting Category (RC):
    • Strength: Strong (student is relatively strong in the RC)
                          Inbetween (this RC is not a relative strength or weakness for student)
                          Weak (student is relatively weak in the RC)
  • Raw Score: number of items correct in that RC
    (Currently the file does not contain TOTAL number of items by RC)
